The Israel Football Association has reaffirmed last year's decision to continue with its point reduction system for next season. Although the original decision called for a two-year imposition of the method, by which all 16 teams in the Premier League have their points cut in half after playing everybody else twice and then endure a three-tier playoff system, IFA chairman Avi Luzon reopened the debate due to opposition by some board members. The IFA also decided that should the top two teams end the season with the same number of points, they will play a championship game in the Ramat Gan national stadium. This past season, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa tied on points, but Tel Aviv was declared the champion based on its favorable goal difference.
