Israel under threat of eco terror

Head of the KKL Keren Kayemet LeYisrael who maintain Israel's forests, has said the country is facing a serious threat of ecological terror. In the last few days, 3,000 dunam of forest have been burnt amounting to 300,000 trees. Police and firefighters said they suspected arson, but no arrests have been made. The KKL has inititiated a special meeting bringing together police, army, fire brigades and the shin bet together to find ways of tackling the problems. KKL Head Efi Stenzler said: "Eco terrorism endangers life and damages the air and oxygen we breath. We have to fight it with everything we've got: innovative technological devices, like installing cameras in forests, creating a JNF forest police. "It was the biggest fire we've had in the last 15 years, we found burned tortoises, cows, jackals and lizards.It will take a year at best just to clean up the enormous damage to the forest, and several years to restore it."
