Arab League observers from the Gulf states board a bus in Damascus.<br/> Monitors from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have already left and those from other Gulf states were expected to leave the Syrian capital soon.<br/> The Gulf Cooperation Council recalled its monitors after President Bashar al-Assad dismissed another league plan to surrender power.<br/> The country is in the midst of a bloody crackdown on anti-government protesters seeking to end al-Assad's rule.<br/> Thousands have died in the clashes, prompting Arab countries to try and broker peace between the two sides.<br/> The remaining monitors will stay in Syria for another month and report back to the Arab League end of February.<br/> Jessica Gray, Reuters
