A rock star welcome for opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi as she hits the campaign trail in Myanmar.<br/> <br />Her massive convoy was en route to the constituency where she will contest by-elections with her National League for Democracy Party in April.<br/> <br />In a parliament still stacked wtih military appointees, Suu Kyi will have her work cut out for her if she wins, but the elections are also a litmus test of the government's sincerity towards recent reforms.<br/> <br />She told the crowd there were many struggles ahead.<br/> <br />"I recognise this not because I'm disappointed but to say we need strength and reinforcement to overcome them," she added.<br/> <br />Free and fair elections are a pre-requisite for the lifting of Western sanctions on the underdeveloped but resource-rich state.<br/> <br />Sunita Rappai, Reuters
