Nearly one year ago, on February 22, 2011, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Christchurch in New Zealand.<br/> <br />184 people were killed in the disaster - including citizens of 20 different countries.<br/> <br />Here, in the Canterbury Television building, is where two-thirds of them died.<br/> <br />An official report released on February 9 found that the construction of the CTV building was "sub-standard".<br/> <br />Large areas of Christchurch's business district were reduced to rubble in the quake.<br/> <br />The city's famous cathedral was heavily damaged, as well as shops, office buildings and many homes.<br/> <br />The tremor, which struck at midday, caused up to 15.5 billion U.S. dollars in damage.<br/> <br />New Zealand straddles the boundaries of the Indo-Australian and Pacific tectonic plates, and is hit by about 14,000 quakes each year.<br/> <br />But only a small number of those top a magnitude of 5.<br/> <br />Travis Brecher, Reuters
