Davy Jones, former lead singer of the 1960s band The Monkees, died on Wednesday (February 29) at a hospital in Florida, reportedly from a heart attack.<br/> <br />The singer was born in Manchester, England and became the principal teen idol of the made-for-tv rock quartet.<br/> <br />Although not allowed to play their own instruments on their early records, The Monkees had several songs that sold millions of copies, including mega-hit "I'm a Believer."<br/> <br />Jones was 66.<br/> <br />Bob Mezan, Reuters.
