A feel of romantic nostalgia as French label Nina Ricci premiered its latest collection at Paris Fashion Week on Thursday (March 1).

Designer Peter Copping appeased his French clients as well as his British roots, by offering a soft and delicate collection with deconstructed and sometimes edgy looks.

Tweed featured heavily throughout, mixed with transparent fabrics such as organza, lace and chiffon.

Copping also played with volume, an early trend at the Paris shows, with long skirts ballooning at the bottom and coats softly jutting out from the waist.

Stand out pieces included long gloves which were attached in the back with a fur stole.

Soft colours dominated, including baby pink, lilac, and faded plums. Monochromatic black and white featured too.

On Friday, Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel will be among the fashion houses to present their latest collections.

Kathi Urban, Reuters
