Nearly three dozen tornados swept through the mid- and southern U.S. with deadly and destructive force.<br/> <br />These were the scenes in the Henryville area of Indiana.<br/> <br />By 0400GMT state officials reported 13 deaths.<br/> <br />Another five deaths have been reported in Kentucky.<br/> <br />Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee were also hit by the wave of tornados.<br/> <br />Homes, schools and at least one jail have been damaged along with vehicles and power lines.<br/> <br />Hailstones the size of baseballs fell in some areas.<br/> <br />The National Weather Service issued storm warnings for more than a dozen states and urged people to take cover.<br/> <br />Thirteen people died in another series of tornados earlier in the week in the same region.<br/> <br />Paul Chapman, Reuters
