Annan says "optimistic" but no Syria deal yet

On the heels of a second round of talks with President Bashar al Assad in Damascus. UN Arab League envoy Kofi Annan says he's optimistic.<br/> <br />He did, however, acknowledge that reaching a deal to end the bloodshed won't be easy.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Un-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan saying:<br/> <br />"Yes, it's going to be tough, it's going to be difficult but we have to have hope. I am optimistic, I am optimistic for several reasons. First of all I've been here for a very short period. Almost every Syrian I've met wants peace.<br/> <br />He told reporters that he'd left concrete proposals for Assad.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Un-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan saying:<br/> <br />"It will help launch the process and it will also help the crisis on the ground."<br/> <br />His comments came amid reports of heavy fighting throughout Syria .
