Footage posted on a social media website by Syrian opposition activists purpotedly shows bodies piled up in a room in Homs.<br/> <br />Activists say dozens of civilians were killed in a "massacre" by pro-Assad militias, which coincided with a weekend visit to Syria by U.N.-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan.<br/> <br />President Bashar al-Assad's government says a "massacre" did take place, but blames the rebels.<br/> <br />Syrian state television broadcast images of dead civilians in Homs that it claims were killed by "terrorist armed groups".<br/> <br />This man says the victims supported the state, so the militants killed them.<br/> <br />Other videos posted on the internet, which Reuters cannot independently verify, purport to show a demonstration in Idlib, where four people were killed after troops and tanks moved in over the weekend.<br/> <br />Here in Deraa, activists say a schoolgirl was killed in a car bomb attack outside her school after participating in an anti-Assad protest.<br/> <br />Government restrictions on the media make it difficult to assess conflicting reports by the government and their opposition since the uprising began one year ago.<br/> <br />Nick Rowlands, Reuters.
