Dr. David Samadi, prostate cancer robotic surgeon, discusses the benefits of robotic prostatectomy surgery over radiation in treating prostate cancer. Highlighting a recent study from Memorial Sloan Kettering, he shares that the risk of prostate cancer metastasis is reduced by 65 percent following surgery, compared to radiation.<br /><br />Following robotic prostatectomy surgery, side effect and risks continue to decrease. However, radiation can introduce many long-term issues including rectal and bladder bleeding, as well as a 5 percent increased risk of bladder cancer and rectal cancer.
