If you've ever wanted your very own piece of pop culture, auction company "Gotta Have It" is now making it possible.

The New York-based shop has placed nearly 700 lots up for grab on its website in a sale called "The Rock & Roll Pop Culture Auction".

The store's CEO and founder, Peter Siegel, expects a dress worn by Princess Diana and items from Elvis Presley to be among the top lots.

SOUNDBITE: Peter Siegel, CEO and founder of Gotta Have It, saying (English):

"We've had one or two dresses that was actually worn by Princess Diana that came out of the Christie's auction a few months before she passed away and they all sold for six-figures, pretty close to $200,000 (USD) a dress. Again we are honored to have one at this auction here, that was in that sale - so we probably think that that could do the best. I love the shoes, I mean to me the blue suede shoes signed is just amazing, 'Jailhouse Rock' costume is again very iconic. So it's hard to say, in the past auctions we had, we've had some real surprises and I wouldn't be surprised if some of these items set some records."

Other paper collectables include Don Henley's handwritten working lyrics for the classic Eagles' song "Hotel California".

And what is believed to be the earliest acquired handwritten letter from Paul McCartney, which features 23 signatures and various drawings.

Several items relating to Michael Jackson are also featured in the sale, including a child-sized train ride once used at Neverland Ranch.

SOUNDBITE: Peter Siegel, CEO and founder of Gotta Have It, saying (English):

"He used to take the children on and have a good time on that, so it really covers the gamete, pretty much all over for collectors out there."

The online auction will take place from March 19th to March 30th.

Alicia Powell, Reuters.
