With support for up to 80 cores and memory scalable to 4TB, the HP ProLiant DL980 is one of the largest single server offerings available. In the context of VMworld 2011, where LockerGnome's Jake Ludington spoke with Alvina Nishimoto from HP, the latest version of vSphere supports up to 32 virtual CPUs and 1TB of memory in a single virtual machine, making the DL980 one of the few servers capable of providing that support. Even if you don't need a giant virtual machine, the ability to support a large number of virtualized resources on this single box makes the DL980 an attractive option for data center configurations.
