This is the fifth installment in my series "Occupying While Black". The Occupy The Dream is a movement led by Dr. Benjamin Chavis Jr., North Carolina State Youth Coordinator of SCLC, Dr. Jamal Bryant of the Empowerment Temple Church. The movement is constructed off the Christian tradition and Dr. Kings vision of economic justice and economic inequality. They kicked off their movement with National Action Day and it was was on Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. Individuals from all over the United States were called to occupy the 13 US Federal Reserve buildings. Demonstrations were held in DC, Chicago, Oakland, Baltimore and Richmond. The Richmond event was led by Lance Watson, Pastor at St. Paul’s Baptist church and held at Kanawha Plaza. During the video I talk about the groups agenda and what they seek to get accomplish. I also pose the question "Why aren't blacks occupying?". I post several quotes from African Americans about why black participation in Occupy Wall Street is so low.
