Blood stains the ground of this church in a working class area of the Kenyan capital Nairobi.<br/> <br />One person was killed and at least 15 wounded when a grenade was lobbed into the midst of a church congregation.<br/> <br />The deputy police chief said they have confirmed it was a grenade attack, but that no-one has yet claimed responsibility.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) NAIROBI DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF, MOSES OMBATI, SAYING:<br/> <br />"So far we have confirmed 16 people, that is, one dead and 15 are admitted at Kenyatta, Nairobi Hospital or Guru Nanak - five are confirmed to be in critical condition."<br/> <br />Many of the wounded are being treated here in Kenyatta National Hospital.<br/> <br />A pastor at the church was one of the victims.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) BLAST VICTIM, JOSEPHINE WANGARI, SAYING:<br/> <br />"I had just finished preaching and I was praying for people, so when I was just beginning to pray for people that's the time when we heard that blast, and of course there was smoke and of course seeing people injured."<br/> <br />At least 10 people were killed last month in a series of attacks in Nairobi and the port city of Mombassa.<br/> <br />The government has blamed these attacks on Somali-based rebels al Shabaab, saying they are retaliating for the deployment of Kenyan troops in Somalia last October.<br/> <br />Nick Rowlands, Reuters.
