ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION<br/> <br />French Socialist candidate Francois Hollande beat incumbent French President Nicolas Sarkozy in the race for presidency on Sunday (May 6).<br/> <br />According to exit polls broadcast on French channel TF1, Hollande received 52 percent of the votes, compared to 48 percent for Sarkozy.<br/> <br />The historic win means that France will have a Socialist President for the first time in nearly two decades.<br/> <br />Conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy, swamped by anger at his failure to rein in rife unemployment and punished too for a personal manner that grated on many, became Europe's 11th leader to be swept out by the economic crisis.
