The first and last men to walk on the moon have labelled the new space programme introduced by Barack Obama, the US president, a mission to nowhere.<br /><br />Obama had announced plans to cancel Nasa's Constellation programme, which will end US plans for future exploration of the moon.<br /><br />Instead, the focus will shift to building a space craft that can take astronauts to Mars.<br /><br />But that is a vision not shared by some pioneers of the US space programme.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports.
