New research of into one of India's biggest and holiest rivers has revealed that it contains high levels of toxic pollutants.<br /><br />Vegetables grown on the Yamuna's banks appear to be contaminated, mainly due to waste dumped by factories, posing a threat to people who live nearby.<br /><br />More than 57 million people depend on the river for their water supply and 70 per cent of Delhi's water comes from it.<br /><br />Locals have appealed to the government to help solve the issue, but authorities have done little to fix the problem.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Prerna Suri reports from Delhi.
