Indonesia is trying to clean up its legal system, in which 80 per cent of police, judges and other officials are believed to be taking bribes worth millions of dollars.<br /><br />But an unfolding scandal is threatening to increase pressure on Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the president, to step up reforms to stamp out corruption.<br /><br />The latest case in which corrupt tax and law officials allegedly accepted bribes in return for lower tax bills has triggered a public outcry.<br /><br />A three-star police general has been given the job of fighting corruption, but as Al Jazeera's Step Vaessen reports, even he is accused of taking dirty money.
