International adoption has again been thrust into the spotlight, following the story of Artyom Savelyev, an eight-year-old Russian boy, who was sent back to Moscow after his American adoptive mother decided he was too much hard work.<br /><br />Since the mid-1990s, 16 adopted children have died in the US, most at the hands of their adopted parents. The Kremlin said that Artyom's case is the last straw.<br /><br />The story has sparked a diplomatic dispute between Moscow and Washington. <br /><br />Russia's foreign minister said that all adoptions to parents in the US will be frozen until an agreement on the issue is reached.<br /><br />Neave Barker reports from Moscow.<br /><br />[29 April 2010]
