A day ahead of the start of the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival, members of the jury arrived in the glitzy French Rivera resort.<br/> <br />Italian Palme d'Or winner, actor and director Nanni Moretti, was greeted by media in Cannes on Monday (May 14). He will lead the nine-member jury to decide the recipients of awards handed out at the closing ceremony.<br/> <br />Along the Croisette, last-minute preparations were underway as beach pavilions stocked up with champagne and lobster, promotional posters went up and stages were set.<br/> <br />Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman are among established Hollywood names expected to grace the red carpet, where they will be joined by a long list of rising stars hoping to make their mark.<br/> <br />Cannes can be an ideal platform for a movie and its cast. Silent hit "The Artist", which went on to sweep the Oscars, launched at the fest last year.<br/> <br />The festival opens on Wednesday (May 16) with Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" and ends on May 27.<br/> <br />Lindsay Claiborn, Reuters.
