Big voiced songstress Adele scooped two trophies at the Ivor Novello song writing awards.<br/> <br />She was named songwriter of the year and her 'Rolling in the Deep' was the most performed work of 2011.<br/> <br />The song has helped the north London singer become the world's biggest pop star.<br/> <br />Despite nabbing her eighth prize of this year, Adele was humble as she collected her award for most performed work.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE singer Adele, saying:<br/> <br />"I knew I had to release it first but I really didn't think it was going to do anything anywhere so the fact that it has is just magical."<br/> <br />The gong for best songwriter was presented by Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox, who told Adele she's bigger than fashion.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE singer Annie Lennox, saying:<br/> <br />"She doesn't need talent shows and competitions and hype and spin and bullshit. This is the real deal. This is what artists are truly about and that is why I am so proud of you -- and baby you're bigger than fashion."<br/> <br />Adele said she had been heavily influenced by the reviews of her first album.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE singer Adele, saying:<br/> <br />"But all the critics -- I read my reviews on my first album, like a dickhead, you shouldn't do that. Any budding artists don't read all the press about you, it's a mistake. But the main thing was that my songs weren't as good as my voice which I really appreciated, and I took it on board and now I am winning songwriter of the year for my second album so thank you very very, much."<br/> <br />Take That's Gary Barlow was grateful he didn't have to go head-to-head with the mighty Adele.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE Take That singer Gary Barlow, saying:<br/> <br />"When we heard she wasn't in our category we thought we've got a chance here."<br/> <br />The Ivor Novello annual awards are in their 57th year and are highly regarded by both songwriters and composers.<br/> <br />Other winners were PJ Harvey for best album and Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp for his outstanding song collection.<br/> <br />Liane Wimhurst, Reuters.
