The Syrian army is being deployed in ever greater numbers to crackdown on its own people. <br /><br />Tanks are patrolling the southern city of Deraa where the uprising erupted six weeks ago.<br /><br />Hundreds of troops in full combat gear have poured into Douma, a suburb of the capital Damascus. <br /><br />And on the coast, the city of Baniyas has been surrounded by troops.<br /> <br />Al Jazeera's Gerald Tan has more.
