ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION<br/> <br />The Aucayacu River in the Huanuco Region of Peru burst its banks in the early hours of Thursday morning (May 24), flooding homes and farmland.<br/> <br />About 100 houses and several hectares of banana and cocoa crops have been damaged.<br/> <br />Local officials said the river burst its banks at five in the morning, taking residents of several nearby towns by surprise.<br/> <br />Those living along the river spent the day struggling to save their belongings.<br/> <br />The river has been swollen by heavy rains.
