The award-winning, India-born film producer and director joins the show. He is one of the few filmmakers who has proved himself in both Hollywood and India's Bollywood, producing big-screen blockbusters with an eye for detail.<br /><br />When he was young, his parents discouraged him from entering the film industry, but he persisted with the craft and became one of the few to make a successful move from the Indian film industry to Hollywood and then continued to work across the two.<br /><br />Shekhar Kapur's first big hit - The Bandit Queen - in 1994 was based on the true story of Phoolan Devi, a lower-caste robber, and her gang.<br /><br />The controversy surrounding the film and its commercial success helped to raise Shekhar Kapur's profile internationally and led to him directing the Hollywood academy award-winning blockbuster Elizabeth in 1998, and its equally grand sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age nearly a decade later.<br /><br />Despite his fame as a movie director, Kapur's skills have also extended to some acting, modeling, voice-over work and, most significantly, producing a string of feature films and stage productions for his growing international audience.
