The Ganges river is the lifeblood of the Indian sub-continent. <br /><br />But its future is under threat, as indicated by a UN climate report which has shown that the Himalayan glaciers, which feed the river, may disappear by 2030, meaning large parts of the river could dry up.<br /><br />Hamish MacDonald reports from the Indian mountain region of Ladakh, where one man is trying to reverse the effects of global warming.
