Amid Tahrir protests Shafiq headquarters goes up in flames

Cairo's Tahrir Square erupts in angry protest on Monday night, after Egyptian officials released the results of the first round of a presidential vote.<br/> <br />Many here are furious at the outcome, which will pit Mubarak loyalist Ahmed Shafiq against the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi in a June run-off.<br/> <br />Declarations of free and fair elections mean little to activists here, many of whom feel the vote - like so many before - lacked transparency.<br/> <br />As the anger grew, the country's military-controlled state television reported that a group of protesters had set fire to Shafiq's campaign headquarters.<br/> <br />State TV said the demonstrators had vandalized the campaign office before setting it alight.<br/> <br />No injuries were reported in the blaze.<br/> <br />The run-off vote between Shafiq and Morsi is set for June 16 and 17.<br/> <br />Travis Brecher, Reuters
