The Philippines has been hit by four typhoons in less than a month. <br /><br />Tens of thousands of farmers have lost their livelihoods, and poverty is now rife in what is supposed to be the country's food basket. <br /><br />In the past small farmers have had no insurance against crop failure.<br /><br />But, as Al Jazeera's Divya Gopalan reports from Iloilo in the central Philippines, a new scheme is giving them confidence to stay on the land.
