Officials are investigating a fire that broke out at the headquarters of Egyptian presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq late Monday.<br/> <br />State news reported that the building was set fire by a group of angry protesters.<br/> <br />A member of Ahmed Shafiq's campaign said the same.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE)(Arabic) MEDIA ORGANIZER OF AHMED SHAFIQ'S CAMPIAGN, AHMED ABDEL GHANY, SAYING:<br/> <br />"When I came here I found them breaking the windows, but I could not do anything because I was here alone and there were many people; a large number of about 400 people, I could have died if I tried to prevent them, but there were some people among them who I know very well."<br/> <br />Shafiq, who served as Hosni Mubarak's last prime minster, angers many in Egypt who believe his ascendency to power would mean the continuation of Mubarak-era policies.<br/> <br />For others, he represents a return to stability and security.<br/> <br />Shafiq is set to run against the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Mursi in the June run-off vote.<br/> <br />It is a contest between the two most polarising and controversial figures in the race.<br/> <br />Several thousand protesters took to the streets across Egypt on Monday to demonstrate against the divisive election results.<br/> <br />Investigations into the blaze are continuing.<br/> <br />Sarah Sheffer, Reuters.
