Rescuers in China's western Qinghai province have been digging through collapsed buildings trying to find survivors of a powerful earthquake that struck on Wednesday.<br /><br />Hundreds were killed, thousands injured and the casualty count is expected to climb as rescuers race to reach trapped victims.<br /><br />Many survivors spent the first night since the quake out in the cold, waiting for relief teams to bring tents and other supplies across a mountainous region known as one of the most inaccessible parts of China.<br /><br />The epicentre was near the town of Jiegu, where around nine out of every 10 buildings were destroyed.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Azhar Sukhri reports.
