Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, has made agrarian reforms involving redistribution of land a key part of his socialist agenda.<br /><br />Over the past eight years, his government has taken property from wealthy ranchers and given it to the poor.<br /><br />But critics say the reform discourages investment and production and has led to a spike in imports. <br /><br />Al Jazeera's Lucia Newman reports from the state of Barinas.
