The death toll from the massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake which struck near Concepcion, Chile's second largest city, has risen to 214 people.<br /><br />The earthquake was the strongest to hit Chile in half a century, and now more than 50 countries around the Pacific Rim are on alert for a tsunami.<br /> <br />Michelle Bachelet, the outgoing president, declared a "state of catastrophe" and warned that more deaths were possible.<br /><br />Tom Ackerman reports.
