Sudan will be holding an election on April 11, the first in 24 years, but the complex voting system will not be easy in Southern Sudan, where about three-quarters of the population are illiterate.<br /><br />In this region, voters will have 12 different ballot papers. Ballots will be identified by the colours blue, green, and purple and political parties will have symbols - all to make the voting easier.<br /><br />The government is holding a step-by-step lesson for first-time voters. It staged a mock vote in a parking lot and a practice session. It has drafted non-governmental organisations to help out.
