The growing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is threatening to become the worst US environmental disaster in decades.<br /><br />According to the US government, more than six million litres of oil have poured into the sea since April 20 when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and then sank.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Tom Ackerman reports from Venice Lousiana as US coastal communities brace for the full impact of the spill.
