The US is struggling to protect its coastline as the oil slick from the Deepwater Horizon leak gets closer to land.<br /><br />Many kilometres of the shore have been lined with inflatable vinyl booms, but that is just a small part of the vast coastline that would need to be protected to prevent a potential environmental disaster.<br /><br />And to actually fix the source of the disaster, the undersea oil leak, could take months.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Tom Ackerman reports from Venice in the state of Louisiana.
