Barack Obama, the US president, has made his first major speech on immigration reform since taking office, challenging Congress to get past "political posturing" and make a bipartisan effort to pass reform.<br /><br />Obama spoke one month before a controversial new citizenship law takes effect in the state of Arizona, giving police broad powers to detain anyone suspected of being in the US illegally.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's White House Correspondent Patty Culhane reports from Washington on the rhetoric and the reality of immigration reform.
