Unesco, the world heritage body, says the historic churches of Mtskheta, Georgia's ancient capital, are "outstanding examples" of Caucasus mediaeval religious architecture. <br /><br />But last year, amid signs of a serious deterioration in the churches' stonework and frescoes, the UN put the site on its "danger list" and asked the Georgian government to do more to preserve the buildings. <br /><br />Matthew Collin reports.
