About 900,000 children in the West African state of Niger are on the brink of malnutrition, according to the UN.<br /><br />The UN's World Food Programme is calling for urgent help to get food aid to areas in the country that have suffered years of failed crops due to drought.<br /><br />Charity organisations operating in Niger are providing food aid to many but some say they can't help out thousands of people due to insufficient funds.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports from the village of Guidan Ider in the Niger city of Tahoua on the humanitary crisis.<br /><br />[August 3, 2010]
