South Sudan has accused the North's army of launching an attack on one of its military bases in a bid to derail its January referendum on self-determination. <br /><br />Southern officials say the peace deal between the south and north has been breached by the recent attack, raising tensions between the two sides.<br /><br />But Khartoum denies the allegations and also accuses the south of violating the 2005 agreement by supporting rebel groups in Darfur. <br /><br />The growing tensions come amid widespread fears that disputes over the south's independence vote could erupt into another civil war. <br /><br />Hoda Abdel-Hamid reports from Khartoum, Sudan's capital. <br /><br />[November 28, 2010]
