ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Hundreds of thousands of union jack waving members of the general public headed to Buckingham Palace to see the Queen make a public appearance on the balcony of her London residence.<br/> <br />Earlier the Queen and royal family rode in an open-topped carriage from Westminster to the palace on the final day of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.<br/> <br />The Queen, flanked by Prince Charles and Camilla on one side and Prince Wililam, Kate and Prince Harry on the other, walked out to a huge roar from the crowd onto the balcony.<br/> <br />Prince Philip, who is recovering in the hospital, was not at her side.<br/> <br />Guardsmen gave the Queen a three gun salute.<br/> <br />The Queen smiled and waved from the balcony before heading back inside, signaling the end to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
