Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has said emergency services are making headway in the battle against forest fires that have raged across the country for weeks.<br /><br />Three out of seven regions which had been in a state of emergency have now been declared safe.<br /><br />But there have been angry demonstrations in the Russian capital over the government's slow response to the heatwave, fires and smog.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Neave Barker reports.
