As Chinese President Hu Jintao hosts his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, China's State television is reporting that the two leaders are calling for support for a UN-backed ceasefire in Syria.<br/> <br />Putin also said the two nations were on the same page when it comes to the Middle East, Iran and the Korean peninsula.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN PRESIDENT, VLADIMIR PUTIN, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Our two countries' views on these issues are the same or similar. Overall, we have already reached a very high level of mutual coordination in order to promote the easing of international crises and issues by the most effective means"<br/> <br />The two also see closer military ties ahead.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) CHINESE PRESIDENT, HU JINTAO, SAYING:<br/> <br />"We have decided to increase cooperation in the fields of military, law enforcement and security."<br/> <br />Putin, will attend a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization later this week.<br/> <br />Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters.
