A powerful earthquake has killed at least seven people in northern Italy.<br /><br />The quake struck in a region roughly 35 km north of the city of Bologna. <br /><br />The epicentre was in the rural plains near Modena. <br /><br />It was relatively shallow, striking at about 10 km underground.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Sabina Castelfranco reports from Bologna.
