Syria's new parliament held its first session to elect its speaker amid continuing violence across the country on Thursday. <br /><br />International observers and opposition groups have called the elections on May 7th that formed the newly elected parliament a sham. <br /><br />Al Jazeera's Rosalind Jordan reports.
