The last rites were conducted on June 4 at the Municipal Hindu Cemetery, Santacruz. Hirani, who has been busy with the promotions of Rajesh Mapuskar's Ferrari Ki Sawaari lately, was in Mumbai for the funeral.<br />Many of the filmmaker's friends from the industry, including Aamir Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Boman Irani, Sharman Joshi, Raageshwari Loomba and Shantanu Moitra had come to lend their support. The 3 Idiots director's father had moved to Nagpur after the India-Pakistan partition in 1947.
