"Joyful" is how Hot Chip describe their latest album "In Our Heads" and, judging by the music video for lead single "Night and Day", there's their trademark quirkiness too.<br/> <br />The space-themed video features British acting legend Terence Stamp and Dutch supermodel Lara Stone.<br/> <br />And a sprinkling of street dancing monks.<br/> <br />The British quintet signed copies of their new album at Fopp record store in London (Tuesday, June 12).<br/> <br />Alexis Taylor said they looked to British comic Peter Serafinowicz, of "Shaun of the Dead" and "Stars Wars" fame, to bring the weird concept to life.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Alexis Taylor, from British Electronic Music Group Hot Chip, saying (English):<br/> <br />"Peter Serafinowicz who made the video, we kind of left it in his capable hands to make a strange video that might not make too much sense, and he did exactly that with those great people starring in it."<br/> <br />On their latest album, the group doesn't stray too far from their signature synth pop sound.<br/> <br />"In Our Heads" also explores soul, R&B, Chicago house, disco and funk.<br/> <br />Group member Joe Goddard said steady is the way they like it.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Joe Goddard, From Electronic Music Group Hot Chip, saying (English) :<br/> <br />"There's really not very much different about this record, we just kind of make this weird pop music that we've been doing for quite a long time."<br/> <br />There's another reason Goddard says the album is upbeat.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Joe Goddard, From Electronic Music Group Hot Chip, saying (English) :<br/> <br />"Well actually I had a baby boy three weeks ago, which actually is kind of joyful, but I need more sleep."<br/> <br />Many in the group have become fathers and are having to come to terms with getting older.<br/> <br />They are slowing down, they say, but only slightly.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Joe Goddard, From Electronic Music Group Hot Chip, saying (English):<br/> <br />"I still party occasionally, it just tends to be, kind of, less regular, but more crazy."<br/> <br />"In Our Heads" is out now on Domino Records.<br/> <br />Cindy Martin, Reuters
