Mas is famous for it's mask making. <br /><br />The masks were originally produced for sacred temple dances, but with the advent of tourism, are now also created for wall decorations.<br /><br />A mask carver is called a ‘undagi tapel’ and the tradition is usually passed down through families. Mask making is a respected occupation and is practised by members of the Brahman case since they know the required rituals involved in making a sacred mask.
