ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION<br/> <br />A clean up began in areas in northern England affected by heavy rains and flooding on Saturday (June 23).<br/> <br />Up to 500 homes and businesses were flooded in Lancashire and West Yorkshire after a month's worth of rain fell in 24 hours.<br/> <br />A hairdresser whose business had flooded said little was done to safeguard against the deluge.<br/> <br />"It annoys me to think they knew that this was going to happen and they did nothing to mitigate the problem. It's just a joke," said Barry Greenwood.<br/> <br />There are several severe weather warnings in place across the north of the country.<br/> <br />Revellers at the Isle of Wight festival in southern England were forced to pitch their tents in muddy marshland and wade through mud to get around this weekend.
