EDIT CONTAINS 4:3 MATERIAL<br/> <br />At least four people were killed and over 100 others injured after an earthquake hit a mountainous area in southwest China, state media reported on Monday (June 25).<br/> <br />The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5 and struck the border between Sichuan and Yunnan province just before 4:00 p.m. (0800 GMT) local time on Sunday (June 24), at a depth of 9.3 kilometres (5.8 miles).<br/> <br />China's state media have put the magnitude as 5.7.<br/> <br />Fifty-three aftershocks were also detected on Sunday, with the strongest measuring at 3.8 magnitude, according to the official Xinhua news agency.<br/> <br />One-hundred-and-six people, including seven tourists, were injured, 20 of them suffering severe wounds, it added.<br/> <br />The quake also toppled over 4,280 houses and cut off transport services and water supplies in Ninglang, disrupting more than 21,800 people, Xinhua said.<br/> <br />A quake relief headquarters has been set up and a team of 1,300 rescuers have been dispatched to the quake-hit region, Xinhua said, quoting local authorities.
