The former prime minister of Libya, Al Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmoudi, arriving in Tripoli on Sunday after being extradited from Tunisia.<br/> <br />He is the first senior official to be returned to Libya to face a trial under the country's transitional leadership.<br/> <br />Mahmoudi served as the ousted Libyan leader's prime minister from 2006 until he fled to neighbouring Tunisia around the time that rebel fighters took Tripoli in August last year.<br/> <br />His extradition could establish a precedent for other countries that have given refuge to or arrested members of Gaddafi's old entourage.<br/> <br />Rights activists say they fear that the Libyan judicial system may not meet international legal standards, but Tripoli considers it a matter of national pride to try former Gaddafi loyalists in Libya.<br/> <br />Sarah Sheffer, Reuters
